The island of NAXOS is accessible by boat from Athens, Santorini or Mykonos but also by plane with a direct connection from the capital of the Acropolis. According to Greek mythology, Zeus, father of all the gods, was raised on the island of Naxos. It is in his honor that the inhabitants named the largest mountain on the island, Zas. Upon your arrival by boat, you will be greeted by one of the jewels of the island: the Portara, a Greek monument facing the sea. The capital of Naxos - Chora - whose emblem is an imposing Venetian castle, is an ancient fortified city with stone-paved streets (kalderímia) where you can admire a unique blend of Cycladic and medieval architecture: mansions with Venetian coats of arms still decorating their entrances, narrow streets with "stegadia" (arches), Catholic churches and fortifications. In the heart of the island other discoveries await you like the temple of Demeter, superb and authentic villages nestled in the mountains, surprising landscapes, many and magnificent sandy beaches, a turquoise and clear sea. Naxos, one of the jewels of ancient Greece on which the foundations of Western culture are laid.
